on the move..

Yesterday we found out that Trae did not get into business school at BYU. We are both sad about this because that was by far our best option and the best school but we decided that if he didnt get in that we would move so that he could continue his education and still get done as quickly as possible... so we are moving to Logan... in about 3-4 weeks.

I've got bittersweet feelings about the whole move.

On one hand i am so sad to be leaving because we have great friends, a great ward, i love my job, i hate moving (especially when i will be eight months pregnant), and because now i will have to find a new doctor and hope that everything transfers with my insurance and all that fun stuff.

However, on the other hand, i am excited for a change..change is good, excited to live closer to home and especially closer to my sisters, excited for cheaper rent because Provo is a total rip off, and excited to make new friends.

Anyways... its a blessing to know that everything happens for a reason and we are going to make the best of this sudden change in our lives.. lets face it.. there will be lots of changes happening in the next little while.

If anyone knows of any nice places to live in Logan that wont break the bank please let us know.

Speaking of moving however... our little lady sure knows how to thrown and elbow jab and do some mad sombersalts.. especially when i lay down for bed at night.. how convienent. i just happened to notice that the countdown is under 60 days..can you believe it!

Well. hope everyone has a great day! BYE

Melissa!
I LOVED Logan! I had Carter there and it's a beautiful hospital! You should look up Gary Fowers for a Doctor! He is so wonderful and such a cool doctor! His clinic is beautiful, too! It's really nice. I hope that helps you out a little bit. Also, Dr. McKenna for a pediatrician is great! He was really great with us for about a month before we moved! Good Luck with the move!

Hello Melissa. Yes, I loved my doctor!!!! I would travel all the way from twin if Josh would let me. His name is Brett Horsley and he works in the Budge Clinic. I'm totally jealous! I don't know what's going on with our first apartment in Logan, but it worked out well for us. It's in a cultisac off of 200 East. They are on Chestnut Lane. Super old but in good condition. a really old guy name Arthur Cahoon (i think?)owened them then, so who know's if he's still alive. It's a two bed, 1 bath with washer and dryer hook ups for $375. It has been awhile since we lived there so i don't know what's up with it now but it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Also, you can look on the bulletin at the institute because they have tons of listings up there specifically people trying to get out of contracts. That's how we found our first apartment. Well, Good Luck!!!

one more thing. Dr. Sheryl Roper Hodges was our pediatrician the whole time we were there and I cried when we had our last appointment with her. She's great! She's also at the budge clinic! Enjoy the new facility. it's wonderful.

That is bitter-sweet. We love living in Logan though and I think you will enjoy it. If you have any questions on apartments or doctors let me know! We will have to hang out with our little girls when they get here!

Good luck with all of this! Change can be hard at first but usually turns out for the best in the end. You guys have such a great attitude about it all that I'm sure it will be a great experience. And you're a little bit closer to Burley, so we would love getting to see you more often! Good luck!!

You will have fun in logan. It could be worse you could have to move out of state. It would be hard to change dr.s for me. But like you said it will be just fine and you will be blessed and taken care of. Good Luck, let us know if you need help.

Hey Meliss!! I loved living in Logan! I would recommend going to the Women's Clinic that is right by the hospital. I had a mid-wife. They are AMAZING. She will stay with you the whole time during labor. We had Deb Flansburg. I think. She was really nice. For Brack's pediatrician I WOULD WHOLE HEARTEDLY recommend Dr. McKenna! Talk about AMAZING! He is so friendly and listens to you. He actually asked Dusty if he wanted to circumsize Brackon. Of course, he didn't want to be responsible for that!! :) T.M.I. :) I traveled back to Logan after we moved to SLC for a few visits for Brackon to go to Dr. McKenna cuz I didn't want to get a horrible pediatrician cuz he was so good. The awesome thing about the women's clinic and the pediactric place, they are in the same building. WHAT I MISS, almost the most, is how fast they are. You don't have to sit and wait for 30 minutes after your appointment was supposed to be, to go in. They are fast. I did have HORRIBLE nurses when I delivered at the hospital. And my sister-in-law didn't have a good experience either. I would ask for a good nurse. I could go on with my horror stories, but I will spare you the reading. Good luck! You will love it in Logan.

I loved living in Logan as well. I'm sure you will love it. My sister-in -law Katie and Clint's sister-in-law both go to Dr. Horsley and say he is marvelous. Katie said that you feel like he has all the time in the world for you. But since I'm not personally speaking I don't know. I'm sure you have gotten more advice than you know what to do with so all I can say is good luck with everything.

Chris and I lived in Logan for a year and a half two years ago, so there are probably a lot of newer apartments, but we lived in a pretty nice and spacious apartment on 421 E. Canyon Road in Logan. The rent was only $460 a month. I also know that Hanbury Manor is really nice, but has a long waiting list because is low income housing and everybody wants it, but if you can get in the price is great. They offer 2 and 4 bedroom apartments. Providence, which is like 5 minutes from main and center street and Logan has a lot of newer apartments and are really nice. It is a newer area. You may also want to look into renting a house versus an apartment. Sometimes you can rent a house for the same price as an apartment and you gain more space and sometimes a garage. Those are my suggestions, but with Katie living there, she can probably give you some good advice. You will probaby want a three bedroom with a baby on the way too. We loved Logan and had a lot of fun there. We miss it a lot. Hopefully you will like it too. Good luck with it all!

Sometimes I do a bit of blog wandering and wandered on to your site tonight. I just had to recommend Dr. Brett Horsley but I see several already have- he's amazing. He was our doctor for our first- I was really tempted to make the drive for #2 and strongly considered for #3 but the possibility of having a baby in Snowville didn't excited me.
Good luck with the move- you two are so cute- good luck with your new little addition!

Hey Melissa-
I just wondered onto your blog from Jill and Kyle's. Sorry to be so snoopy, but I thought I could give you some good tips, since I live in Cache Valley and just recently had a baby myself. My OB is Kristen Craig and she is the bomb, if you want a doc who is thorough and great, but you're not stuck talking about her personal life forever (and she get you in and out fast, so you don't sit freezing in the gown). My sister Michele works for the Women's Center here in Logan and she also likes Dr. Horsley and Dr. McCulloch. They can be difficult to get into though. As far as Peds go, mine is a newer doc to the valley and he is wonderful. He knows Case by site and remembers us at each visit. I love it! As far as housing goes, if Trae is alright riding the bus or trying to find campus parking(nightmare!) there are some good options in North Logan. If he would rather walk to campus you're going to sacrifice space and cost, but it's what works best for you. Anyway, hope I didn't overwhelm you with too much info. See ya at the Garrard Christmas Party.

HI MELISSA THIS BLOG REALLY STIRRED SOME RESponse. I CANT RECOMEND A DOCTOR ON A PATIENT POINT-OF-VIEW HOWEVER I WORK FOR FOUR THAT ARE GREAT MAYBE I AM A LITTLE PARTIAL BUT YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO THE CACHE VALLY WOMENS CENTER ITS NOT PART OF THE HOSPITAL....THERE PATIENTS ARE ALL PRETTY LOYAL. I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR STRESS ABOUT CHANGING IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR PREGNANCY. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT I CAN HELP YOU WITH AND ----WELCOME!!!

What a great attitude to have, and yes I think everyting happens for a reason. Look at Jeff and I, we could never have imagined that we would raise our family in Malta, Idaho. Good things are in store for you.
